THIS IS AN OBSTACLE COURSE RACE

Insane Terrain Running is entering its fourth year and kicking off with Go Insane at Peterborough.

After the huge success of our previous events at Grange Farm, Wansford, Peterborough, we’re back adding more fun, mud and madness.

Boasting significant water runs, a 4×4 course and spectacular scenery, it would be rude not to return. We’ve altered the course and added more obstacles, so even the experts from Go Insane at Peterborough 2014 & 2015 should expect the unexpected.

The course is in Wansford near Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and is a moments drive from the A1. Grange Farm’s attributes include easy access and parking as well as a spectator/athlete area overlooking the beautiful landscape.

The course is set out in a 5km loop. Each participant gets the choice on the day of completing 1 lap or 2, allowing for 5km or 10km in distance. All runners will receive a goody bag on completion which includes a drink, snack and a Dri fit T-Shirt. You’ll also receive a fabulous medal on the day when you cross over the finish line.

Team Bex – Supporting HCCN

Every other week I go to Hinchingbrooke Hospital and receive treatment for cancer. I am 34 years old, the mother of two and I am literally fighting to stay alive! Being a mummy and having a 6 and 2 year old is a tough job but doing with it whilst fighting cancer is terrifying. Not knowing if I will be here to see them grow up, to even see my youngest start school is my worst nightmare. This is where HCCN make a real difference. William was five when I started treatment, we chose not to keep anything from him. When Mandy used to turn to come to the house, he would be waiting with his doctors bag to help. Mandy is one of those remarkable people that always arrives at the door with a smile, she’s always happy to talk about anything, and makes having cancer bearable. Ginin, Maureen and Cheryl are equally remarkable nurses, caring for people of all ages and backgrounds who have this awful disease. They never show the strain of their daily jobs, everything they do is to improve the lives of those living with cancer.

I remember waiting in the waiting room months ago for an appointment, an elderly couple sat to my right, they were talking about their journey to the hospital and how terrible he (the patient) felt. I smiled at the lady and she smiled back. She went on to tell me that they had travelled for over an hour to get to the appointment to have his blood taken, he had been so sick that she had had to force him into the car against his wish, if he didn’t get his blood tested, he wouldn’t get his chemo.

This is where HCCN makes a difference, they can visit patients at home to prevent them from making unnecessary journeys. HCCN allows patients to take control back of their lives, stops cancer from taking everything. They support you, encourage you and motivate you to fight the disease.

HCCN isn’t a large charity, they don’t get massive donations form high corporations, its people like me that keep them going. Just normal people who want to raise money to support those with cancer. Over the last few months together with my team we have raised over £40.000 for this charity. We have baked, ran, cycled, played golf, raffled, danced, auctioned and with the support of Insane Terrain we are all about to get muddy to raise money for HCCN.

I will be taking part in the event, I am still having chemo and will have to look into what to wear to keep warm as I can’t get cold. If I get too cold I get terrible ions and needles in my feet and hands, it can take me upto 5-6 hours to warm up. I am willing to do this for those that keep me going, its the least I can do for the people who are helping me to see my boys grow up!

Please support me and HCCN, they are as truly remarkable as you are.
